Receiving system
List the displays or control units that need the requested heading information. Provide their input specifications and mark the intended connections on a system sketch.
Compass output file
Ask for the proposed compass's output definitions and connection documentation. Request the exact unit identification so the reviewer can compare the correct documents with the receiving system.
Integration review
Have the interface reviewer identify the settings and connection details requiring confirmation. Ask for clarification against the system sketch and retain the agreed document references with the equipment request.
Record output changes explicitly
If a connected display or control unit changes, update its input documents in the compass inquiry. Ask for clarification of the proposed connection arrangement and identify the exact output document your reviewer should use. Keep the revised system sketch and review comments together before selecting the equipment for the updated installation.
Describe the receiving equipment and the information needed
For a compass data enquiry, identify the equipment intended to receive the information and provide its current documentation. Describe the buyer's intended use of that information and ask the supplier to identify the proposed compass configuration. Keep the requested output description separate from the supplier's response about what is offered. Do not fill missing interface details from the compass name or an unrelated listing. Ask the system reviewer to identify which connection and information questions must be answered before the proposed combination can be assessed for the actual vessel arrangement.
Prepare a diagram showing the proposed information path from the compass to the intended receiving equipment. Mark existing connections and distinguish them from proposed changes. Ask for the applicable interface specification, connection documents and equipment revision references. If another component is proposed between the compass and the receiving equipment, request its identification and relevant documents as well. Keep ambiguous connection points on a query list. A response about the compass alone should not be taken to settle questions about the complete path through equipment that the response does not describe.
Request the operating or integration instructions your reviewer needs to interpret the proposed information at the receiving end. Ask which configuration the documents describe and what information the supplier needs about the buyer's equipment. If a demonstration is proposed, define the equipment combination and observations the reviewer wants recorded. Keep any practical work under the control of responsible personnel using the applicable instructions. Record which parts of the information path were actually assessed and which remain document questions, without extending a partial review to an unreviewed system connection.
At quotation approval, align the compass reference, receiving equipment identification and interface response. Ask the supplier to identify exclusions and any additional items expected from the buyer. Retain the selected configuration and document revisions with the system review notes. If the receiving equipment or proposed compass changes, reopen the affected connection questions and request updated information. Give the installer the final diagram and applicable document set, with alternatives clearly distinguished, so the purchasing decision remains attached to the particular information path reviewed rather than to a broad compass category description.
Ask the receiving equipment reviewer to identify the particular information they need from the compass proposal. Include that request with the connection diagram and retain the response alongside it. If another receiving device is proposed later, reopen the information and interface questions for that device rather than assuming the original output review establishes the suitability of the changed information path.
